Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Primo Carnero (ranked 2979 p4p, 372 weight class) and Ahmed Zaitoun (ranked 3582 p4p, 435 weight class). Ahmed Zaitoun will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zaitoun rushes Carnero and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Carnero wants to break free but Zaitoun has control.

Carnero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Zaitoun clinches up against the cage.
Carnero misses with an elbow strike.
Carnero can't find room to land a body shot as Zaitoun controls the action.
Carnero is trying to break the clinch but Zaitoun has him pressed against the cage.
Carnero tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Zaitoun smiles and moves away.

Zaitoun rushes Carnero and presses him up against the cage.
Carnero jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Zaitoun walks away with a smile on his face. Carnero gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carnero prevents a body shot from Zaitoun.
Zaitoun misses with a punch to the body.
Zaitoun misses with a punch on the inside.
Zaitoun swings wildly with an uppercut but Carnero uses good head movement to avoid it.
Zaitoun lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Carnero backwards.

Carnero pulls guard effortlessly.
Carnero pulls Zaitoun in close to prevent any damage.
Carnero wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carnero working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Zaitoun has passed into half guard!
Carnero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Zaitoun decides to return to a standing position.

Zaitoun moves into the clinch successfully.
Carnero tries to score a body lock takedown but Zaitoun shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Carnero has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Zaitoun avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Carnero tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Zaitoun lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Carnero backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zaitoun swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Carnero goes for a takedown attempt but Zaitoun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Carnero gets tackled into the cage by Zaitoun. Zaitoun maintains the clinch.
Carnero is trying to pull guard but Zaitoun turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Carnero is trying to force a seperation but Zaitoun has the dominant position.
Zaitoun lands a body shot in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Carnero using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Zaitoun has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
