Fuentes throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Schubert counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Fuentes!
Fuentes seems a little lost for a moment, as Schubert dominates the positioning.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Fuentes is not content to let Schubert control the position.
Fuentes prevents Schubert from improving position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fuentes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fuentes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schubert on the ground.
Schubert is controlling the pace.
Schubert's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Schubert has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Schubert takes one to the side of the head.
Schubert throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Fuentes on the side of the head.
Schubert takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Schubert blocks the body kick.

Fuentes tried to counter with a leg kick but Schubert avoided it.

Fuentes just misses with a punch to the body.
Schubert avoids a punch combination nicely.
Fuentes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A telegraphed right hand from Schubert misses the target.
Fuentes stuffs the takedown attempt from Schubert. Schubert gets slowly back to his feet.
Fuentes was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Fuentes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fuentes works Schubert's body with a nice hook.
We've been told by Fuentes's head coaches at Underground Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Fuentes makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

A telegraphed right hand from Fuentes misses the target.
Fuentes throws the kick towards the body but Schubert avoids it.
Fuentes throws a head kick but Schubert moves out of range.
Schubert changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Schubert misses with an uppercut
and Fuentes counters with a left to the body.
Schubert takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fuentes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schubert was well out of range. Poor timing from Fuentes.
Schubert takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Schubert looks winded!

Fuentes drops Schubert with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Schubert looks back up at him and smiles so Fuentes waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Thomas Schubert has been cut.
Fuentes thows a body kick. Schubert tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Fuentes with a nice calf kick.
Schubert tries to clinch but Fuentes moves away
and Fuentes counters with a good low kick that Schubert was not able to check.
Nice jab there from Fuentes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Fuentes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Schubert takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Schubert moves out of range of the body kick.
Schubert misses the body punch
and Fuentes counters with a straight right hand.

Fuentes sends Schubert crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Fuentes is motioning to the referee to let Schubert up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Schubert is rocked!
Schubert shoots in for a double leg but Fuentes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fuentes is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Schubert flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Schubert is out cold! Fuentes holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
