PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Rays (ranked 5000 p4p, 5169 weight class) and Justin Himpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Justin Himpson!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rays closes the distance and clinches.
Himpson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Himpson is trying to pull guard but Rays has him pressed against the cage.

Rays breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Himpson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Rays gets a double leg takedown into Himpson's guard.
Himpson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rays. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Himpson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rays is working Himpson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rays gets to his feet. Himpson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Himpson shoots in for a takedown but Rays shows good takedown defense.
Rays tries to counter by clinching up but Himpson breaks away and moves out of range.

Rays darts in and clinches Himpson up against the cage.
Himpson takes a shot to the head.

Himpson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Himpson breaks the clinch.
Himpson tries to clinch but Rays is having none of it.
Rays appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Rays leaves Himpson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Robbie Rays has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Himpson.
Himpson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rays.

Rays shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Himpson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Himpson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rays manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rays seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rays is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rays in particular looking to stall.
Rays is thwarting Himpson's attempts to control the position.
Rays passes into side control, despite Himpson's attempt to control the position.
Himpson tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rays lands a big elbow.
Rays controlling the position easily from mount.
Himpson has given up his back here.

Rays is working for a rear naked choke. Himpson is not defending it well and Rays has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Himpson refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Himpson's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
