Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erik Versteeg (ranked 25239 p4p, 25591 weight class) and Sho Pereyra (ranked 659 p4p, 633 weight class). Versteeg comes to the cage accompanied by Lil' Wayne feat. Eminem - "Drop the World (Official Video Edition)" . The key to victory for Erik Versteeg has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erik Versteeg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sho Pereyra!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.

Pereyra ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Versteeg moves away.
Versteeg moves in looking to clinch but Pereyra pushes him off.
Pereyra shoots in for a double leg but Versteeg sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pereyra changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Versteeg looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Versteeg is looking to get back to his feet here but Pereyra is keeping cool and he's managed to take Versteeg's back.

We've been hearing good reports from Versteeg's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Versteeg is having to fend off submission attempts from Pereyra, who is looking to sink in the choke. Pereyra doesn't have the hooks in though and Versteeg manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pereyra looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Versteeg has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Versteeg postures up and lands a big shot to Pereyra's brow.
Pereyra bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Versteeg's guard.

Pereyra tries to free his leg and advance position but Versteeg is retaining full guard.

Versteeg wants to stand but Pereyra is controlling the position.

Versteeg looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pereyra passes into side control.

Pereyra is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Versteeg has escaped the position, nice work there.
Versteeg is not content to let Pereyra control the position.

Pereyra decides to stand back up.

Versteeg is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pereyra leaves Versteeg with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Versteeg uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pereyra.
Pereyra fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Versteeg manages to avoid it.
Versteeg tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pereyra paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Versteeg is looking to clinch.
Versteeg lands with a nice body punch.
Versteeg lands a right hook to the body.
Pereyra looks winded!
Some wild striking there from Pereyra.
Versteeg wants to clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pereyra throws a body shot but no joy.
An inside leg kick from Pereyra misses.
Sho Pereyra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Versteeg tries to clinch but Pereyra is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sho Pereyra will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Versteeg clinches up against the cage.
Pereyra is working for takedown but Versteeg is calmly controlling the position for now.
Versteeg with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Pereyra blocks the elbow strike.

Pereyra has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Versteeg regains guard immediately.
Versteeg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pereyra on the ground.
Pereyra slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Versteeg is looking for a sweep.
Versteeg gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee warns Versteeg that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Versteeg is trying desperately to improve position.

Pereyra is working for a guillotine from mount but Versteeg frees his head quite easily.

Versteeg really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Versteeg tries to hold on but Pereyra postures up.
Sho Pereyra has got the better of the ground game so far.

Versteeg has left one of his arms exposed and Pereyra doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Versteeg screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sho Pereyra!
Sho Pereyra took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'Thanks to my team. I hope this is a good sign for my future.'.
