PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crane Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reis's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Blood Brothers. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crane Adams!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Reis shoots in looking for a takedown. Adams tries to sprawl out of it but Reis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Adams manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Reis closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Reis keeps Adams at a distance using the push kick.
Reis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Adams needs to keep his hands up - Reis had a free shot at his head there.

and Reis counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Reis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Adams won't be happy with that.

Reis is trying to get an arm triangle but Adams is defending well.

Reis goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Adams rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Reis's guard! Nice work there by Adams!

Reis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Adams escapes and throws Reis's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Adams is trying to control the action in half guard but Reis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Reis tries to roll over but Adams keeps him under control.
Adams wants to control but Reis is keeping him busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reis is looking to get back to full guard here but Adams has managed to pass to side control instead.
Reis is looking to improve his position but Adams isn't that keen on the idea.

Reis wants to control the pace but Adams is squirming around nicely.

Reis swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Adams is now in Reis's guard. A big mistake from Reis there, giving up the dominant position!

Adams gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Adams wants to clinch up but Reis keeps it at a distance.

Reis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Adams as he avoids it easily.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Adams just misses with a elbow thrown towards Reis's brow.
Adams pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Reis jumps guard but Adams stands there with Reis around his waist. Reis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Reis is trying to drag Adams to the mat but Adams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Crane Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Reis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adams gets caught flat footed, as Reis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Reis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Adams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Reis, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Reis wants to hit a switch here but Adams passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Reis there!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Reis is squirming around, avoiding Adams's attempts to control the action.
Reis wants to control but Adams is having none of it.
Reis is desperately trying to improve his position but Adams has a good base and remains in mount.

Adams tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Crane Adams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Adams has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
