PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nico I Pivo (ranked 3724 p4p, 4999 weight class) and Glenn Ruiz (ranked 153 p4p, 184 weight class). I Pivo comes to the cage accompanied by moderna cajka. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

Ruiz circles away from the clinch attempt.
I Pivo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ruiz throws a body kick that misses.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by I Pivo!

It looks like Glenn Ruiz has been cut.
I Pivo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
I Pivo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ruiz dives in and scores a takedown into I Pivo's guard.
Ruiz is standing up over I Pivo. I Pivo looks to escape but Ruiz dives into side control.

A lull in the action here as Ruiz stalls from top position.

I Pivo has had enough of the clinch but Ruiz keeps him there for the moment.
I Pivo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ruiz gets control of I Pivo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ruiz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ruiz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ruiz is on top in guard.

Ruiz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ruiz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ruiz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
I Pivo wants to get back to his feet but Ruiz is dominant here and he's now got I Pivo's back!
I Pivo is really stuck here.
Ruiz just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
I Pivo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruiz on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ruiz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
I Pivo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ruiz is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
I Pivo digs a good hook to Ruiz's body.

Ruiz shoots in and bounces I Pivo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ruiz scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ruiz controlling from the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
I Pivo tries to clinch there but Ruiz circles away.
Ruiz appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
I Pivo goes for a double leg but Ruiz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ruiz continues to drive forward.
Ruiz is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

I Pivo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ruiz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of I Pivo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take I Pivo's back!

I Pivo takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Ruiz has managed to slip his arm under I Pivo's chin. This could be all over... yep, I Pivo is tapping out! Submission win for Ruiz.
