Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jones Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Smirilov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jones Jon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexander Smirilov!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirilov misses with an uppercut.

Smirilov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jon regains half guard, as Smirilov was trying to land strikes.

Smirilov stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smirilov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Jon stops Smirilov from standing up.

Smirilov is looking for a triangle here but Jon uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smirilov tries to escape but Jon has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Jon is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Smirilov holding both Jon 's hands and preventing any damage.
Jon is trying to stick to Smirilov's back but Smirilov is turning into Jon. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jon's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Smirilov.

Smirilov wants to pass the guard but Jon is keeping the position.
Smirilov looking to sit in guard and control but Jon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Smirilov can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alexander Smirilov will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Jon fails with the takedown

and Smirilov moves into the clinch.

Smirilov lands a takedown into guard.
Smirilov wants to control from the top but Jon keeps moving.
Smirilov looking to sit in guard and control but Jon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jon controls from within his opponent's guard.

Smirilov is breathing heavily.
Jon preventing the sweep.
Smirilov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jon wants to take Smirilov's back here but Smirilov is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Smirilov is desperately trying to improve his position but Jon has a good base and remains in mount.
Jon controlling the pace for now.
Jon pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smirilov wants to control but Jon is having none of it.
Smirilov wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jon has the hooks in. Smirilov is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Jon just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alexander Smirilov will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I would not like to be Smirilov right now.
Jon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Smirilov trying to control the position but Jon manages to sink in the hooks.
Smirilov controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smirilov trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Smirilov trying to get back to his feet but Jon is in full control for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smirilov tries to roll but Jon sticks to his back.

Jones Jon showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Smirilov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
