Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tariq Ziyad (ranked 4854 p4p, 4819 weight class) and Aleksander Aavik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aleksander Aavik!

Aavik turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Ziyad is trying to control Aavik's posture but Aavik avoids it.
Ziyad really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ziyad is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ziyad is looking for a sweep. Aavik is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Aavik is looking to take a break and control but Ziyad is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Aavik fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Aavik jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ziyad is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ziyad and Aavik has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ziyad tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Aavik defends well and Ziyad ends up having to push Aavik into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Aavik in particular looking to stall.
Ziyad tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ziyad tries to kick Aavik off but Aavik keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ziyad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aavik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ziyad somewhat.
Aavik wants to counter with a clinch but Ziyad pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aavik's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Aavik slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
