PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Woodley (ranked 1791 p4p, 5375 weight class) and Bert Hardman (ranked 219 p4p, 508 weight class). Woodley's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Scorpions - Winds Of Change. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Woodley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bert Hardman!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.

Woodley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Woodley punishes Hardman's body with a nice straight punch.
Woodley's corner calls for a 1-2. Woodley obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hardman swings for the body but Woodley moves out of range.
Woodley moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Woodley is looking to stand up but Hardman isn't so interested in that idea.

Hardman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hardman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Woodley's guard.

Woodley has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Hardman has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Woodley is trying to push Hardman away but Hardman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hardman is working for takedown but Woodley is calmly controlling the position for now.

Woodley pushes Hardman off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hardman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Woodley's waist but Woodley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hardman off to one side.
It looked like Woodley was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hardman.

Hardman drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Woodley defends it well.

Woodley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hardman circles away quickly and effectively.
Hardman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Woodley can pounce on him.

Hardman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Woodley manages to avoid it.
The fighters circling - Woodley throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Woodley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hardman.

Woodley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Woodley wants it to stay on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hardman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Woodley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hardman distracts Woodley with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Darren Woodley showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Woodley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Darren Woodley tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
