PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geno Turekken (ranked 7039 p4p, 7610 weight class) and Kiso Akinaga (ranked 575 p4p, 596 weight class). Akinaga is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The HU - Wolf Totem. Kiso Akinaga will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geno Turekken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kiso Akinaga!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.

Akinaga uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turekken.
Akinaga swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Turekken slips a jab and a cross from Akinaga.
Turekken was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Turekken takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Akinaga throws a left that rocks Turekken and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Akinaga dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Turekken regain composure!

It looks like Geno Turekken has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akinaga tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Akinaga has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turekken is looking to reverse the position.

Akinaga throwing strikes but Turekken manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Akinaga is desperately trying to improve his position but Turekken has a good base and remains in mount.
Turekken definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Turekken tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Akinaga might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Turekken haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Turekken's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Akinaga tries to lock up and control but Turekken gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Turekken postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Akinaga looks a forlorn figure.
Turekken lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Akinaga wants to hold on but Turekken pushes him away.
Turekken lands a big elbow.
Akinaga keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Turekken avoids the attempt from Akinaga to control.
Turekken scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Akinaga?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Akinaga connects with a body shot.
Turekken lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kiso Akinaga is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Akinaga fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Good shot there by Turekken.
A slow jab from Akinaga misses its intended target.

A jab-cross combination lands for Akinaga and sends Turekken crashing to the mat! Akinaga follows him down to the mat - Turekken regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Turekken is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Turekken kicks off Akinaga and gets to his feet.
Akinaga dances in with a quick combination. Turekken is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Akinaga snaps Turekken's head back. Turekken stumbles backwards against the cage. Akinaga steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Turekken's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Turekken just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kiso Akinaga!
A very excited looking Kiso Akinaga made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
