Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Law!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.

Law closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Funaki to the mat! Funaki manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Funaki keeping moving, preventing Law from controlling successfully.
Funaki lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Law preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Funaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Funaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Law is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Law really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Funaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Law can do anything to dispel that myth.
Funaki stands up over Law, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Funaki forces his way into half guard.
Law is not content to let Funaki control the position.
Funaki lands with a punch from half guard.

Funaki tries to pass to full mount but Law defends it.
Funaki looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Law with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Funaki drops an elbow to the side of Law's head.
Funaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Funaki slips a nice elbow through Law's hands, connecting with Law's forehead.

Law is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Funaki scores with a couple of nice shots.
Law has hold of Funaki's hands but Funaki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Funaki lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Law quite badly. Law pulls Funaki in close trying to recover. Funaki postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Law on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Law doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Minoru Funaki!
