PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dennis Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Davis.
Dennis Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A solid body kick from Davis.
Davis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Harrison circles away quickly and effectively.

Harrison shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davis's guard.
Harrison stops Davis from standing up.
Harrison trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Harrison controls the pace.
Harrison is standing up over Davis. Davis looks to escape but Harrison dives into side control.
Davis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Harrison is controlling him well.
Harrison working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Harrison tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Harrison looks up at the clock and then as Davis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Harrison smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Davis is trying to get back to his feet.

Davis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Harrison is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Harrison looks gassed!
Harrison in side control lands a decent elbow.
Davis pushes Harrison away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Harrison gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrison landing a few strikes.
Davis wants to get back to his feet but Harrison drags him back down.

Davis bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Harrison misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Harrison closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Harrison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Davis is looking to escape.
Harrison is trying to control the action in half guard but Davis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Harrison is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Davis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Harrison not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Harrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working.
Harrison prevents Davis from standing back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Harrison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davis swivels and escapes.
Dennis Davis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Harrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Davis tries to sprawl out of it but Harrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dennis Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Harrison.
Harrison walks into a left hand.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Davis!
Davis misses with a double jab.

Harrison closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Harrison working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Harrison has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Davis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Harrison is controlling him well.

Harrison stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Harrison has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Davis throws a series of punches but Harrison moves out of range.
Harrison shoots in but no luck this time.
Davis misses with the combination.

Harrison gets the takedown into side control.
Davis is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Harrison tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harrison has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Harrison lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davis down.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Harrison working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Davis tries to escape but Harrison is in control.

Harrison is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Davis has escaped the position, nice work there.

Harrison wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Davis, who protects the arm well.

Davis pushes Harrison away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Harrison gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Harrison is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Davis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Harrison is looking to take a break and control but Davis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Davis misses with a double jab.
Davis throws a series of punches but Harrison moves out of range.

Harrison feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Harrison changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Davis wants to stand but Harrison is controlling the position.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Harrison landing with the ground and pound.
Harrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Harrison's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Harrison trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.

Harrison drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harrison jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Harrison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Harrison throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harrison avoids the head kick by Davis.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Harrison misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Davis swinging wilding here.
Davis lands a two punch combo.

Harrison feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Harrison changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Harrison prevents Davis from getting back to his feet.
Harrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harrison stops Davis from standing up.
Davis keeping moving, preventing Harrison from controlling successfully.
Davis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Davis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harrison is controlling him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Davis is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Harrison.
A right-left combo lands from Davis.
Harrison misses with a combination
and Davis counters with a slapping leg kick.
Davis motions for Harrison to come forward. Davis throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Harrison.

Harrison has an Americana. Davis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Harrison is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Harrison hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jon Harrison!
