PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Asprin (ranked 4903 p4p, 25623 weight class) and Jack Langston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langston has chosen I Walk Alone as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

Langston throws a series of punches but Asprin moves out of range.
Asprin misses with a body shot
and Langston counters with a left and a right that stings Asprin.
Langston blocks the body kick.

Asprin decides to stand back up.
Langston fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Asprin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Asprin throws a push kick but Langston slaps the foot to one side.

Asprin dives in and scores a takedown into Langston's guard.

Asprin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Asprin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Langston, up you get!

Asprin has closed the distance and engaged Langston in a clinch.
Langston is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Langston wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Asprin is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Langston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Asprin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Langston is working an open guard so Asprin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Langston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Asprin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jack Langston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Asprin tries to bum rush Langston with a series of wild strikes but Langston uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Langston throws a right and a left that both miss.

Asprin drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Langston wants to stand up but Asprin is controlling him.
Asprin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Langston motions for Asprin to come forward. Langston throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jack Langston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Asprin drives through with a takedown into guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Asprin lands a nice short elbow.
Langston really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Asprin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Langston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Asprin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Asprin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Langston's guard.

Langston pushes Asprin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Asprin closes the distance and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Asprin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Asprin dodges the punch combination from Langston.
It looked like Asprin wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Langston gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Langston manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Asprin has his hands on Langston's head, controlling the position.

Langston is sitting in close to Asprin's body. Asprin has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Langston is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Langston is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Asprin.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Benjamin Asprin!
In defeat, Jack Langston stepped up to the mic, saying 'We'll be back!'.
