PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yama Oka (ranked 25322 p4p, 3710 weight class) and Snail Tail (ranked 623 p4p, 427 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Oka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tail swivels and escapes.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tail has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Tail with the counter takedown but Oka avoids it easily.
Oka dives in and grabs Tail's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tail pushes down on Oka's head and hops out.
Tail is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oka is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Tail looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Tail tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Oka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tail wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Tail wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Oka, who protects the arm well.

Oka is looking to regain half guard here but Tail keeps moving and retains side control.

Tail is working to tighten his grip on Oka's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Oka has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tail is really squeezing tight and eventually Oka passes out! Tail breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
