PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nour Peacock (ranked 4962 p4p, 6320 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 576 p4p, 638 weight class). Nour Peacock has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nour Peacock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.

Mendy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendy lands in his opponent's guard.

Peacock is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peacock wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mendy manages to pass to side control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mendy connects with a nice short shot to Peacock's temple.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mendy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Peacock takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Peacock lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mendy's sensitive parts.
Mendy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peacock as he jumps to the side.

Mendy instigates a clinch.

Peacock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Peacock ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mendy controls from within his opponent's guard.

Peacock has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Peacock is breathing heavily.
Mendy is looking to pass into half guard but Peacock pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Peacock is in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mendy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mendy pulls Peacock in close to his closed guard and prevents Peacock from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mendy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Peacock stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Peacock looks to land a combination but Mendy avoids it well.

and Peacock holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Peacock gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mendy.
Mendy has Peacock pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Peacock manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Nour Peacock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pierre Ragout Mendy.

Mendy wants to stand and escape but Peacock is having none of it.

Mendy pulls Peacock in close to his closed guard and prevents Peacock from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mendy throws a big shot that misses.
Peacock went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Mendy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Peacock throws a head kick that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Peacock moves into range and clinches up with Mendy.

Peacock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Peacock misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mendy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Peacock moves in looking to clinch but Mendy pushes him off.
Mendy throws a nice looking combination but Peacock bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mendy throws a body punch but Peacock moves out of range.

Mendy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Peacock napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Check out the look on Mendy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Mendy looks up at the clock and then as Peacock takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mendy smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Mendy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Peacock some visible discomfort.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mendy is looking to take a break and control but Peacock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mendy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Peacock's shoulder. That is not cool.
Peacock is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mendy enables Peacock to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mendy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mendy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Peacock manages to get himself to full guard.

Pierre Ragout Mendy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mendy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
