Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Barry McCockiner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jared Tuttle!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tuttle shoots in looking for a takedown but McCockiner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tuttle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCockiner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tuttle.
McCockiner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McCockiner misses with the combination.
Tuttle throws a right hand that McCockiner ducks under and follows up with a left that McCockiner also avoids with ease.
Tuttle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by McCockiner. That's going to slow Tuttle down.

Tuttle tries for a takedown but McCockiner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McCockiner tries to bum rush Tuttle with a series of wild strikes but Tuttle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McCockiner sets himself, and Tuttle steps forward looking for the clinch! McCockiner avoids it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tuttle gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tuttle keeps control of McCockiner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

McCockiner tries to circle away but Tuttle has him pinned against the cage.

McCockiner wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tuttle keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McCockiner's efforts to push away.
McCockiner is trying to push Tuttle away but Tuttle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A frustrated look appears on McCockiner's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McCockiner has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Tuttle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McCockiner lands a head kick!
McCockiner is breathing heavily.
Tuttle tries to clinch but McCockiner is having none of it.
McCockiner seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Tuttle tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCockiner swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tuttle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCockiner tries to avoid it but Tuttle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCockiner to the ground. McCockiner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McCockiner has Tuttle up against the cage in a clinch.

Tuttle breaks from the clinch.
Tuttle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCockiner but McCockiner pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and McCockiner counters with a three punch combo that has Tuttle backing up. Tuttle nods at McCockiner to acknowledge the strikes.
McCockiner connects with the punch.
Tuttle blocks a head kick by McCockiner.
McCockiner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McCockiner pushes Tuttle away with a front kick.

Tuttle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Tuttle clinches with his opponent.
Tuttle is trying to drag McCockiner to the mat but McCockiner just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Tuttle is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
McCockiner lands a body shot in the clinch.
McCockiner tries to break the clinch but Tuttle is controlling the position.
McCockiner lands an elbow that stopped Tuttle in his tracks for a moment.
McCockiner lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Tuttle keeps control of McCockiner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

McCockiner is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Tuttle is trying to pull guard but McCockiner has him pressed against the cage.
Tuttle is trying to maintain a safe position but McCockiner gets an underhook and turns Tuttle into the cage.
McCockiner lands an elbow inside.

McCockiner breaks from the clinch.
McCockiner stuffs the takedown attempt from Tuttle. Tuttle gets slowly back to his feet.
McCockiner throws a big counter combination but Tuttle scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry McCockiner dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McCockiner lands a high kick!
Tuttle takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Barry McCockiner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice takedown defense from McCockiner. No joy for Tuttle on that attempt.
McCockiner throws a right and a left that both miss.
Some bone on bone action there as McCockiner checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting McCockiner here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Tuttle dives in and scores a takedown into McCockiner's guard.
McCockiner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tuttle manages to pass to side control.

Tuttle is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tuttle drops an elbow to the side of McCockiner's head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tuttle seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. McCockiner is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
