PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Armstrong (ranked 25307 p4p, 4232 weight class) and Kid Old Young (ranked 139 p4p, 169 weight class). Kid Old Young looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kid Old Young!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.

Old Young gets a clinch.

Old Young manages to break the clinch.

Old Young has taken the fight to the clinch.
Armstrong stalling in the clinch but Old Young improves position.

Old Young has picked Armstrong up - he's going for a ride! Old Young dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Still in half guard, Old Young seems content to control.

Old Young stands up and beckons Armstrong to join him on the feet.

Old Young instigates a clinch.
Armstrong is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Old Young is keeping busy.
Armstrong is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Old Young to keep the fight standing.

Old Young pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Old Young scores with a head kick. Armstrong tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Old Young avoids the head kick by Armstrong.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Old Young rushes Armstrong and presses him up against the cage.

Old Young changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Armstrong fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Armstrong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Old Young postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Armstrong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Old Young, into his guard.

Old Young really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Armstrong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Old Young controls Armstrong momentarily but Armstrong frees himself.
Old Young has a closed guard, preventing Armstrong from standing up.

Old Young uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Armstrong is looking to clinch.
Kid Old Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Armstrong is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Old Young gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A right hand to the body from Old Young.
Armstrong is trying to pull guard but Old Young turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Old Young breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Armstrong doesn't manage to clinch there - Old Young circles away.
Old Young swats away the attempt to clinch by Armstrong.
Old Young shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Armstrong as he avoids it easily.

Old Young is looking for a takedown.
George Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kid Old Young.
Old Young prevents Armstrong from breaking the clinch.

Old Young has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Armstrong uses from the top position.
Armstrong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Old Young has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Armstrong is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Old Young.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A lull in the action here.
Old Young takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
We've been informed that Old Young has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Armstrong decides to stand up, so the ref orders Old Young to his feet.
Armstrong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Old Young paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Armstrong shoots in but Old Young avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kid Old Young dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Armstrong wants to get back to striking at distance but Old Young won't allow it.

A short body shot lands from Old Young as the two fighters clinch.

Armstrong drags the fight down to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Old Young gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Old Young is looking to slow Armstrong down with leg kicks.
Old Young is breathing heavily.

Armstrong decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armstrong seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Old Young is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
