Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Maeda (ranked 1468 p4p, 1222 weight class) and Frankie Lamas (ranked 182 p4p, 154 weight class). Maeda comes into the arena with Submission blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Maeda fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Lamas throws a leg kick but Maeda sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Maeda's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lamas under the eye.
Maeda shoots for a double leg takedown but Lamas sprawls well. He's pushed Maeda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lamas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lamas wants it to stay on the feet.

Lamas clinches up with Maeda and pushes him back against the cage.

Lamas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Maeda moves out of range as Lamas strikes.
Lamas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Maeda's head backwards.

It looked like Maeda was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lamas.

Lamas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maeda circles away quickly and effectively.
Maeda misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Maeda looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Maeda shoots in but no luck this time.

Lamas throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Maeda on the side of the head.

Lamas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Maeda closes the distance and clinches up with Lamas, looking for a takedown. Maeda pushes Lamas against the cage but Lamas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lamas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maeda moves away.

Lamas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Maeda tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lamas smiles and moves away.

Lamas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maeda moves away.
Maeda appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Lamas closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

enabling Maeda to counter with a crisp jab.
Nice straight punches there by Lamas. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lamas.

and Maeda connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lamas comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lamas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It looked like Maeda was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lamas.
Lamas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Frankie Lamas will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lamas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Maeda decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lamas's guard.
Lamas wants to stand and escape but Maeda is having none of it.
Maeda wants to control from the top but Lamas keeps moving.
Lamas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Maeda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lamas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maeda throws a strike but Lamas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maeda looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lamas has picked Maeda up and slammed him! Maeda can't keep hold of the triangle and Lamas manages to pass to side control!

Lamas decides to stand up, so the ref orders Maeda to his feet.

Lamas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maeda sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Maeda misses the shot to the body.

Lamas thows a left - swing and a miss!
Maeda swings for the body but Lamas moves out of range.
Lamas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Maeda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lamas is fending him off so far but Maeda persists. Nope, Lamas circles away and we're back to standing.

and Lamas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lamas.

Maeda is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Lamas rolls with it to try and escape but Maeda cranks on the arm and Lamas is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

A relieved looking Thomas Maeda thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
