PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodriguez has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Pedro Rodriguez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir tries to clinch but Rodriguez is having none of it.

Rodriguez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mir has him pressed against the cage.

Mir keeps control of Rodriguez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rodriguez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mir uses from the top position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dan Mir just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mir shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rodriguez's guard.

Let's hope that Mir has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Mir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rodriguez, who protects the arm well.

Dan Mir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rodriguez throws a head kick but Mir moves out of range.

Mir bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mir stands up and beckons Rodriguez to his feet.
Mir scores with a one two! Rodriguez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dan Mir has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mir lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Rodriguez wants to try and get back to his feet.
Mir lands a big elbow.
Rodriguez tries to lock up and control but Mir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Rodriguez is looking to get to half guard.
Rodriguez reaches up to try and control the position but Mir seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Rodriguez rolls and tries to escape and now Mir has his back!
Mir lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Mir just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Well Mir has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
