Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Candy Van!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordon Fisherman!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fisherman throws a nice inside leg kick.
Van fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fisherman avoids it really well and circles away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Fisherman! But no joy.
Nice sprawl there from Fisherman as Van shoots in.

Van goes for a double leg but Fisherman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Fisherman continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Candy Van. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fisherman scores with a sloppy right hand. Van should have avoided that one.

Van is rocked!
Van changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fisherman tries to avoid it but Van manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fisherman to the ground. Fisherman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A nice side step and Fisherman releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Fisherman throws a hook but Van avoids it easily.
Van throws a big counter combination but Fisherman scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Fisherman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Van drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fisherman has control of Van's left arm, preventing Van from doing any damage.
Fisherman trying to keep a closed guard but Van is proving a slippery customer.

Fisherman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fisherman pulls Van in close to his closed guard and prevents Van from doing any damage or advancing position.
Van trying to control the position from guard on top but Fisherman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fisherman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Van decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fisherman thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Van closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Fisherman punishes Van's body with a nice straight punch.
Fisherman throws a body punch but Van moves out of range.
Van shoots in but no luck this time.
Fisherman thuds his right hand into Van's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Van has his takedown stuffed
and Fisherman counters with a low kick, right behind Van 's knee.
Fisherman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Van looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fisherman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Van circles away quickly and effectively.
Van tries for a takedown but Fisherman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Fisherman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Van's half guard.

Fisherman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fisherman is trying to control the action in half guard but Van is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Van moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Fisherman tries to free his leg and advance position but Van is retaining full guard.
Fisherman trying to control the position from guard on top but Van is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fisherman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Fisherman throws an elbow that misses. Van uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fisherman's guard. Nice move by Van!

Fisherman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van manages to get himself to full guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fisherman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Van is keeping the position for now.
Fisherman with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fisherman distracts Van with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Van has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Fisherman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Van.
Van tries to bench press Fisherman off him but Fisherman keeps the position.
Fisherman grinds an elbow into Van's temple.
Fisherman lands some shots froms side control.
Oh Van is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fisherman in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Van looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Fisherman turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gordon Fisherman!
Gordon Fisherman took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, HELLBENT for their support in the buildup to the fight.
The defeated Candy Van had this to say: 'Back to the gym!'.
