PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Avi Agababa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Lee Paris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paris takes a swing at Agababa's ribcage but misses.
Agababa misses with a takedown attempt - Paris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Paris misses with a few strikes there.
Agababa fails with an attempt to clinch.

Paris gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Agababa really is a fat lump.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Agababa shoots for a double leg takedown but Paris sprawls well. He's pushed Agababa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Paris throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Paris pulls Agababa in close to prevent any damage.
Agababa wants to stand but Paris has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Paris manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Paris uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Agababa has time to react.

Agababa had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Paris is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Agababa Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Paris's back instead.

Johnny Lee Paris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Paris lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Agababa circles away quickly and effectively.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Paris stuns Agababa with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Paris drops Agababa with a beautiful combination! Agababa stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Paris is looking for the KO!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Agababa takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Check out the look on Paris's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
