The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Sanchez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sanchez showed some decent athleticism there.
Ellen is trying to stand up here but Sanchez is controlling him well.
Ellen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sanchez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Sanchez tries to stand and escape but Ellen is controlling the position.
Ellen tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control.
Ellen tries to kick Sanchez off but Sanchez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Sanchez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ellen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Sanchez is working for a kimura but Ellen is defending it quite comfortably.

Sanchez uses his free foot to push down on Ellen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ellen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez has hold of Ellen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ellen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ellen reaches up to try and control the position but Sanchez seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ellen rolls and tries to escape and now Sanchez has his back!
