PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Bobandy (ranked 4942 p4p, 7292 weight class) and Patrick Hoolahan (ranked 0 p4p, 649 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Bobandy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Hoolahan!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.

Bobandy rushes Hoolahan and presses him up against the cage.
Hoolahan jumps guard but Bobandy stands there with Hoolahan around his waist. Hoolahan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hoolahan misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Bobandy wants to break free but Hoolahan has control.
Hoolahan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bobandy up against the cage.
Bobandy has Hoolahan pressed against the cage.
Hoolahan lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hoolahan jumps guard but Bobandy stands there with Hoolahan around his waist. Hoolahan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bobandy looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bobandy tries to break free but Hoolahan pushes him back against the cage.

Randy Bobandy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Hoolahan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hoolahan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bobandy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hoolahan wants to get up but he can't break Bobandy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bobandy manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Bobandy takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Patrick Hoolahan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bobandy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hoolahan sprawls well initially but Bobandy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hoolahan wants to stand back up but Bobandy manages to pass into side control.

Bobandy stands up and beckons Hoolahan to his feet.
Hoolahan has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bobandy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hoolahan lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hoolahan ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Bobandy takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Hoolahan is trying to maintain the position but Bobandy is very close to passing his half guard.

Hoolahan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bobandy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bobandy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Bobandy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hoolahan is looking to get back to is feet but Bobandy passes into side control.
Hoolahan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Bobandy feints and as Hoolahan raises his hands in defense, Bobandy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoolahan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bobandy dives into side control.

Bobandy creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hoolahan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Bobandy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hoolahan is trying to escape the position but Bobandy is controlling the position.
Hoolahan tries to buck Bobandy off but Bobandy is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Hoolahan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bobandy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Randy Bobandy.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bobandy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
