Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grigori Kharkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas Drake acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Grigori Kharkov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Drake!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake drops his shoulder and cracks Kharkov with a huge uppercut! Kharkov goes down! Can Drake finish him?


Kharkov is rocked!


It looks like Grigori Kharkov has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drake controls from within his opponent's guard.
Oh Kharkov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Drake tries to stand but Kharkov is controlling from the bottom.
Drake trying to control the position from guard on top but Kharkov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kharkov seems to have got his legs back now.
Kharkov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kharkov is on top in guard.

Kharkov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Drake defends it well.

Drake is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kharkov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kharkov's back!
Drake wants to control but Kharkov is keeping busy.
Kharkov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Drake is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Kharkov wants to escape the position.
Kharkov breaks Drake's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Drake wants to stand but Kharkov is controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kharkov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Drake is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kharkov prevents Drake from getting the reversal.
Kharkov controlling the position easily from mount.
Drake tries to hold on but Kharkov pushes him away.
Drake is looking to improve his position but Kharkov isn't that keen on the idea.

Drake is squirming around, avoiding Kharkov's attempts to control the action.
Kharkov lands a big shot there that rocks Drake but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


It looks like Thomas Drake has been cut.
Drake is wriggling around trying to escape.

Kharkov controlling his opponent.

Drake is in a horrible position here. Kharkov smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kharkov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Drake is looking to escape.

Drake is trying to stand back up but Kharkov is controlling him
Kharkov is trying to control. Drake wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kharkov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Drake is not content to let Kharkov control the position.
Drake is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Drake pushes Kharkov off looking to stand but Kharkov dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Drake tries to get to full guard but Kharkov has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Drake throws a right hand that Kharkov ducks under and follows up with a left that Kharkov also avoids with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Grigori Kharkov will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action!



Kharkov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Drake pushes Kharkov away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kharkov gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kharkov tries to advance to mount but Drake denies him.
Drake taking a bit of punishment here - Kharkov scoring with strikes.
Kharkov tries to score with some ground and pound. Drake controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Drake is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Kharkov has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Drake prevents Kharkov from moving into mount.
Drake pushes Kharkov away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kharkov gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kharkov cracks Drake with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Grigori Kharkov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kharkov tries to move into full mount but can't pass Drake's legs.
You can see the frustration on Drake's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kharkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drake keeps working.
Drake tries to bench press Kharkov off him but Kharkov keeps the position.
Kharkov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Drake tries to clinch but Kharkov is having none of it.

Drake lands a head kick that stumbles Kharkov and the fighters go to the mat.

Drake wants to stand but Kharkov has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kharkov looking for a sweep. Not yet Kharkov, not yet.
Drake controls from within his opponent's guard.

Kharkov pulls Drake in close to prevent any damage.

Drake won't allow Kharkov to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kharkov moves away from the strike by Drake.
A jab from Drake misses.
Kharkov tries for a takedown but Drake sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kharkov takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Drake drops Kharkov with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kharkov looks back up at him and smiles so Drake waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Kharkov is rocked!
Thomas Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drake lands with a big right hook that stumbles Kharkov - he's out on his feet here! Drake follows up with another monster hook that separates Kharkov from consciousness! Kharkov falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Drake stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Thomas Drake!
