PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nufro Cacho (ranked 5428 p4p, 2293 weight class) and KJ Flay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nufro Cacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, KJ Flay!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.

Cacho avoids the body shot from Flay.
Cacho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flay's waist but Flay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cacho off to one side.
Cacho keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Flay drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cacho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Flay is one step ahead there.
Flay loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Flay is working Cacho over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cacho is trying to keep Flay in close.
Flay in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cacho lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Flay wants to sweep but no luck.

Flay looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Flay sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Flay manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flay working for a triangle but Cacho defends it easily.

Flay tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cacho has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cacho looking to sit in guard and control but Flay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Flay is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Flay prevents Cacho from standing back up.
Cacho has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Flay is working away from the top position though.
Flay takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Flay working the head and body with strikes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Flay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cacho keeps working.
Cacho has hold of Flay's hands but Flay slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

KJ Flay dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Flay takes a swing at Cacho's ribcage but misses.
Flay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nufro Cacho is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Flay shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cacho is refusing to be controlled, as Flay sits in half guard.
Flay thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Flay connects with a nice short shot to Cacho's temple.
Flay is trying to control the action in half guard but Cacho is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ground and pound from Flay.
Flay seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cacho is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Flay scores with a couple of nice shots.
Cacho is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Flay working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cacho is refusing to be controlled, as Flay sits in half guard.

Flay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cacho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Flay throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cacho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flay on the ground.
Flay is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Cacho is hurt! He's hurt bad - Flay fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Cacho from any more punishment! Congratulations to Flay! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). KJ Flay!
