PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: God's Gonna Cut You Down. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franklin has Harrison up against the cage in a clinch.
Harrison is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Franklin pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Harrison has hold of one of Franklin's legs. Franklin is fighting the takedown attempt but Harrison gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harrison accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Franklin is trying to control the position but Harrison postures up.
Harrison tries to free his leg and advance position but Franklin is retaining full guard.

Harrison content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Franklin is not content to let Harrison control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harrison is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Franklin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Franklin is trying to escape the position but Harrison is controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Harrison is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Franklin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Franklin tries to buck Harrison off but Harrison is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Harrison trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Franklin tries to control the position but Harrison now has his back.

Harrison has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Harrison is looking for the choke from the back position but Franklin is controlling his hands well.

Harrison is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Franklin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Harrison looks gassed!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Harrison is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Franklin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Harrison dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Franklin tries to clinch there but Harrison circles away.
Franklin shoots in looking for a takedown. Harrison tries to sprawl out of it but Franklin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harrison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Harrison swats away the attempt to clinch by Franklin.

Harrison darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
William Harrison has got the better of the ground game so far.
Harrison is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Franklin!
Harrison tries to control but Franklin wriggling away.

The referee warns Franklin that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Franklin is squirming around, avoiding Harrison's attempts to control the action.
Franklin has given up his back.
Well, with Harrison on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Franklin is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
I would not like to be Franklin right now.
Franklin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harrison on the ground.

Harrison keeps control of the position as Franklin tries to break free.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Harrison controlling the positon.
Franklin tries to escape but Harrison has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
What can Franklin do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Harrison connects with a big shot to the side of Franklin's head.

Harrison is persistently looking for the submission but Franklin is defending it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Harrison is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Franklin has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Harrison has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Franklin taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Harrison doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). William Harrison!
