PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kiso Akinaga (ranked 24687 p4p, 6800 weight class) and Marax El (ranked 562 p4p, 504 weight class). Akinaga comes to the cage accompanied by The HU - Wolf Totem. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marax El!

Akinaga has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Akinaga there as he acknowledges the shot.
Akinaga shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Akinaga shoots for a double leg takedown but El sprawls well. He's pushed Akinaga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Akinaga fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but El avoids it really well and circles away.

El wants to control but Akinaga is keeping busy and won't allow it.

We've been told by Akinaga's head coaches at Dark Horse MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

A nice side step and El releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

El connects with a body shot that sends Akinaga's belly button to the back.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
El moves into range and connects with a jab.
El throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Akinaga slips a jab and a cross from El.
As El tries to get set, Akinaga tries to push him back and clinch up but El manages to avoid the attempt.
El throws a series of punches but Akinaga moves out of range.
Akinaga shoots for a double leg takedown but El sprawls well. He's pushed Akinaga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

El has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

El cracks Akinaga with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
El lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

El fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Akinaga looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

El uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Akinaga has time to react.
Akinaga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts El as he jumps to the side.
Akinaga takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

El remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Akinaga connects with a nice short shot to El's temple.

Marax El comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got El winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
