Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, daniel flames!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mithani moves into range and clinches up with flames.
flames looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Mithani wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by flames as Mithani tries to tie him up.
flames throws a knee to the head but misses.

flames manages to break the clinch.
Mithani throws a sloppy head kick and flames moves out of range easily.
Mithani shoots in for a takedown but flames shows good takedown defense.
Mithani lands with a cross.

Mithani has flames up against the cage in a clinch.
Mithani tries to pull guard but flames holds him up against the cage and eventually Mithani drops back down to his feet.
flames prevents the takedown attempt.

and Mithani counters with a three punch combo that has flames backing up. flames nods at Mithani to acknowledge the strikes.

Mithani is looking to break free of the clinch but flames has double underhooks.

Mithani pulls guard effortlessly.
Mithani manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mithani looking to ground and pound but flames is blocking nicely.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if flames can do anything to dispel that myth.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mithani is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but flames is surviving well by controlling Mithani's body position as best he can.

flames gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mithani seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down flames for as long as he can get away with.

Mithani is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Mithani uses his free foot to push down on flames's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for flames.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mithani thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mithani sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Mithani scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Mithani looking to ground and pound but flames is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mithani looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
flames holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Mithani tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Mithani gets a clinch.
Mithani is trying to break free.
flames can't break the clinch.

Mithani pulls guard.

Mithani kicks flames off and gets to his feet.
Mithani changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. flames tries to avoid it but Mithani manages to keep hold of a leg and drag flames to the ground. flames escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mithani moves into the clinch.
Mithani works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Mithani jumps guard.

Mithani is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mithani has his hands on flames's head, controlling the position.
flames takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mithani bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in flames's guard.

Mithani stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mithani fails with the takedown.
Mithani shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Viraj Mithani. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mithani shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says flames as he avoids it easily.
Mithani throws a sloppy head kick and flames moves out of range easily.
flames walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
flames stuffs the takedown attempt from Mithani. Mithani gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck for Mithani with that takedown attempt.

Mithani has closed the distance and engaged flames in a clinch.
Mithani blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Mithani wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
flames misses with a punch on the inside.
Mithani is looking to break free of the clinch but flames has double underhooks.

Mithani pulls guard.
Mithani pulls flames in close to prevent any damage.
Mithani might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mithani pushes flames off and scrambles back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
flames keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
flames is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mithani pushes flames up against the cage in a clinch.
Mithani changes levels and goes for a takedown here. flames fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mithani looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? flames is fending him off so far but Mithani persists. Nope, flames circles away and we're back to standing.

daniel flames has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Viraj Mithani is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Mithani has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
