Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Alvin (ranked 4893 p4p, 4864 weight class) and Diego Alvarez (ranked 536 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.

Alvin tries to clinch but Alvarez is having none of it.
Alvarez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Alvin clinches up with Alvarez and pushes him back against the cage.
Alvarez wants a takedown but no success here.
Alvarez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alvin walks away with a smile on his face. Alvarez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alvarez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Alvarez takes a swing at Alvin's ribcage but misses.
Alvin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Alvarez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Alvin quickly recovers to half guard.
Alvin wants to control but Alvarez is keeping busy.

Alvin tries to get to full guard but Alvarez has control of the leg.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alvarez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alvin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alvin but Alvin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Alvin goes for a double leg but Alvarez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alvarez continues to drive forward.

Alvin throws a right hand that Alvarez ducks under and follows up with a left that Alvarez also avoids with ease.
Alvin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Alvarez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Alvin on his heels. He'll look to pass Alvin's guard now, I'm sure.

Alvin pushes Alvarez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Alvarez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alvin.
Alvin closes the distance and clinches up with Alvarez, looking for a takedown. Alvin pushes Alvarez against the cage but Alvarez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Alvarez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
