PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fukuoka Soshitsu (ranked 4766 p4p, 4845 weight class) and White Widow (ranked 596 p4p, 602 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Widow takes a kick to the side of the head.
Soshitsu thumps Widow with a low kick.
Donk. Widow catches Soshitsu right on the button with a cross.
Fukuoka Soshitsu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soshitsu tries to clinch but Widow is having none of it.
Soshitsu misses with a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Widow! But no joy.
Soshitsu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Widow paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It seemed like Widow was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Widow lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Soshitsu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Soshitsu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Widow now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Soshitsu fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Soshitsu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Widow sizes up Soshitsu with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Widow feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Soshitsus jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Widow on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Soshitsu. Soshitsu obviously looking to wear him down.
Soshitsu throws a head kick that misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Widow! But no joy.
Widow tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Soshitsu was well out of range. Poor timing from Widow.
Soshitsu fires out a quick counter leg kick but Widow just manages to avoid it.
Soshitsu wants to clinch up but Widow keeps it at a distance.
Widow doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Widow avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
A little jabbing left from Widow on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Nice straight punches there by Widow. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Widow.
Widow scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Soshitsu doesn't seem bothered though.
Soshitsu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Soshitsu lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Widow swats away the attempt to clinch by Soshitsu.
Widow might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Soshitsu lands with a thumping leg kick.
Soshitsu tries a head kick but it misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Soshitsu.
Soshitsu misses with a kick to the body
and Widow counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Soshitsu takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Widow is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Soshitsu had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Soshitsu tries to score with a low kick but Widow moves his leg out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fukuoka Soshitsu will probably get the nod.

Soshitsu throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Widow.
Widow lands a slapping body shot.
Fukuoka Soshitsu is winning the standup battle so far.
Widow moves into range and connects with a jab.
A punch lands to the side of Soshitsu 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Soshitsu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Widow tests Soshitsu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A clash of legs there as Widow blocks the low kick.

Oh Soshitsu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Soshitsu gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Widow gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Soshitsu is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
