Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between kurt pike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright tries to clinch up.
Wright tries to clinch but pike is having none of it.

Horrible takedown by pike or perhaps it was just good defense by Wright which made him look bad.

Wright is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but pike is staying active.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
pike throws a low kick but it's checked well by Wright.

Wright throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around pike's waist but pike gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wright off to one side.

Wright moves in looking to clinch but pike pushes him off.

Wright rushes pike and presses him up against the cage.

pike is pressed up against the cage. Wright has hold of a leg and is looking to drag pike down to the mat. pike avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Wright is looking to clinch but pike is avoiding it.

pike lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wright!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
pike with shots to the head and body - Wright looks very uncomfortable down there.
Wright tries to lock up and control but pike gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
pike is landing with some decent strikes but Wright is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
pike is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wright can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wright takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

pike goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wright rolls with the submission and now he's on top in pike's guard! Nice work there by Wright!

Steve Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
