The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Grugger tries to kick Jackson off in order to stand up. Jackson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Jackson lands a few punches from side control.
Jackson happy to just control the position for now.
Grugger tries to escape but Jackson is in control.
Jackson decides to stand back up.
Grugger misses with a takedown attempt
and Jackson counters by clinching up.
Jackson stops a takedown attempt from Grugger.
Jackson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Grugger is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Grugger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Grugger in a clinch.
Jackson has had enough of the clinch but Grugger keeps him there for the moment.

Grugger gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grugger works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Grugger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson gets to his feet. Grugger looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Grugger shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Grugger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Grugger wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him.
Jackson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grugger's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grugger is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Jackson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Grugger has worked his arm free - good work by Grugger!
Jackson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jackson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Grugger to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rampage Jackson dominated that round.
That's time! Grugger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Grugger wants to clinch but Jackson slips to the side
and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Grugger pushes Jackson off and gets back to his feet.
Grugger misses with a takedown attempt
and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Grugger's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fred Grugger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grugger doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
Jackson lands a few punches from side control.
Rampage Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Grugger tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Grugger bucks Jackson off and manages to get back to his feet!

Rampage Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Grugger is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jackson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Grugger's back instead.
