Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alastair Van Meester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sven Torsk!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Van Meester. No joy for Torsk on that attempt.
Van Meester looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Van Meester throws a sloppy head kick and Torsk moves out of range easily.
Van Meester connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Torsk's hands.

Van Meester shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Torsk's guard.

Torsk manages to work his way to half guard, despite Van Meester's best efforts.

Van Meester is working for a kimura but Torsk is defending it quite comfortably.

Van Meester is controlling the pace.
Van Meester stops Torsk from getting back to his feet.

Van Meester is just content to waste time from the top position. Torsk takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Torsk crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Van Meester - the referee stops the clock and Torsk gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Van Meester. Torsk manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Torsk looks gassed!
Van Meester bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A jab-cross combination lands for Van Meester and sends Torsk crashing to the mat! Van Meester follows him down to the mat - Torsk regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Torsk is rocked!


It looks like Sven Torsk has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Van Meester works his foot free and advances to mount.
Torsk is still in real trouble! Can Van Meester finish him?

Van Meester wants to control the pace but Torsk is squirming around nicely.
Torsk seems to have recovered his senses.
Van Meester content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Meester prevents Torsk from getting the reversal.
Van Meester looking to control but Torsk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Van Meester is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Torsk is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Van Meester stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Van Meester throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Torsk gets caught flat footed, as Van Meester shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Van Meester seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Torsk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Van Meester looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Alastair Van Meester just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Van Meester tries to close the distance and clinch but Torsk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Torsk avoids a kick to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Torsk misses with a takedown

and Van Meester counters with a nice double leg into side control. Torsk won't be happy with that.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Torsk is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Van Meester.
Van Meester seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Torsk for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Alastair Van Meester just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Torsk is looking to sweep but instead, Van Meester has passed into half guard.

Torsk is staying active underneath Van Meester, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Van Meester is looking to take a break and control but Torsk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Torsk tries to kick Van Meester off but Van Meester keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Torsk is trying to maintain the position but Van Meester is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Meester throws a leg kick which misses Torsk's front leg but catches the back leg as Torsk tries to avoid it.

and Van Meester counters with a monster head kick that knocks Torsk out cold! He topples like fallen a tree, crashing to the mat! Timbeeeeeerrr!
