Oaken stuffs the takedown.
Carandang tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Oaken shoots in and bounces Carandang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Oaken tries to free his leg and advance position but Carandang is retaining full guard.
Carandang throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Oaken escapes and throws Carandang's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Oaken decides to stand up, so the ref orders Carandang to his feet.
Gelo Carandang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carandang doesn't manage to clinch there - Oaken circles away.
Carandang shoots in and bounces Oaken off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Carandang is breathing heavily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Oaken holds on and takes a little breather.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Oaken is looking for a triangle but Carandang pushes his legs off easily.
Carandang is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Oaken is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Oaken has escaped and now he's on top!
Oaken advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carandang is not content to let Oaken control the position.
Carandang wants to improve his position but Oaken is controlling well.
Oaken gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Oaken connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Carandang! He's out on his feet! Oaken rushes in and drops Carandang with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Danny Oaken!
