PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vadim Konstantinov (ranked 4222 p4p, 24762 weight class) and Penko Penev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Penko Penev!

Konstantinov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Penev.
Vadim Konstantinov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Konstantinov slaps away a takedown attempt from Penev, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Konstantinov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

We've been hearing good reports from Konstantinov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Konstantinov looking to break Penev's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Penev remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Konstantinov will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
You can see the frustration on Penev's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

A close second round but Penko Penev will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Konstantinov feints and then cracks Penev's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Penev down.

Konstantinov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Penev's guard.

Konstantinov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Penev defends it easily.
