The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smithers feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bill's calf.
Bill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bill looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smithers is fending him off so far but Bill persists. Nope, Smithers circles away and we're back to standing.

so Bill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bill is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smithers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smithers has escaped and now he's on top!

Smithers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bill looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bill!
