Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexey Andreev (ranked 1241 p4p, 531 weight class) and Santiago Costa (ranked 184 p4p, 74 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 18 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Andreev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andreev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Andreev is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Costa.
Costa misses the shot to the body.
Andreev is looking to counter punch.

Costa gets the takedown into side control.
Andreev is trying to improve his position.
Andreev is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Costa grinds an elbow into Andreev's temple.
Costa tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Costa working the strikes but Andreev uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Andreev is trying to get back to full guard.
Andreev is staying active underneath Costa, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andreev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Costa controlling the action here.

Andreev tries to roll over but Costa keeps him under control.
Costa content to control rather than advance.
Andreev is looking to control Costa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Andreev avoid being mounted?
Andreev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Andreev looking for a kimura from the bottom but Costa passes into side control!
Costa working the ground and pound.

Andreev is trying to get back to half guard.
Costa wants to control but Andreev is keeping him busy.

Costa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Costa trying to control the position but Andreev is working away.

Costa has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Costa misses the shot to the body.
Costa takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A jab lands there for Andreev.
A combination from Costa does no damage.
Andreev stalks Costa and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Costa's face. Costa staggers backwards, shaken.
Andreev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Costa as he avoids it easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Andreev paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Andreev lands with an uppercut that bounces Costa off the cage and back into range.
Andreev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Costa sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Costa gets caught napping as Andreev dives in and scores a takedown. Costa manages to retain guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Costa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Andreev throwing strikes but missing.
Andreev stands and throws Costa's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Andreev lands a nice forearm strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Andreev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Costa has escaped the position, nice work there.
Andreev landing a few strikes.
Andreev working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Costa manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Costa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Costa.
Costa pulls Andreev in close to prevent any damage.
Andreev lands a couple of elbows.
Andreev postures up.
Costa keeping moving, preventing Andreev from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Alexey Andreev dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Costa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Costa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Andreev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Costa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Andreev looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Costa passes into half guard.
Costa lands with a punch from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Andreev is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Costa has latched onto it... Big trouble! Costa pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Andreev is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Costa!
