Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xander Machado (ranked 3279 p4p, 3359 weight class) and Matt Manners (ranked 414 p4p, 424 weight class). Machado comes into the arena with Latin Thugs blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Manners!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

Manners swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've been informed that Manners has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

As Manners looks to move away, Machado throws a big counter combo but Manners just gets out of the way.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Manners crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Machado - the referee stops the clock and Manners gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Machado. Manners manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Manners looks to throw the jab but Machado is out of range.
Manners tests Machado's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Machado moves out of range of the body kick from Manners.
Manners waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Machado.
Manners rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Machado moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Machado scores with a one two! Manners had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Matt Manners has been cut.
Machado looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Good standup being displayed there by Manners as he connects with a hook.

Machado changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Manners looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Machado has hold of Manners's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Manners tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Machado cranks the arm and Manners screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Manners, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Xander Machado!
