PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Nash (ranked 5178 p4p, 4904 weight class) and Ace Pablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pablo has chosen Heroin and marijuana/Money can buy Happines as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ace Pablo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nash tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Pablo lands with a kick to the temple. Nash shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Pablo feints and then cracks Nash's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nash down.

Nash seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Pablo throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Pablo throws a sloppy head kick and Nash moves out of range easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nash has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pablo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Nash tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pablo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pablo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pablo tries to avoid it but Nash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pablo to the ground. Pablo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pablo tries to score with a low kick but Nash moves his leg out of the way.

Nash darts in looking for a takedown but Pablo gets double underhooks and turns Nash into the cage.
Nash tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pablo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nash lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Pablo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nash tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pablo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Pablo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nash tries to clinch but Pablo is having none of it.
Nash throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pablo.
Nash closes the distance and clinches up with Pablo, looking for a takedown. Nash pushes Pablo against the cage but Pablo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ace Pablo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Nash moves away from the strike by Pablo.
Nash takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A nice leg kick from Pablo, right into the meat of the thigh.
Pablo stuffs the takedown attempt from Nash. Nash gets slowly back to his feet.
Nash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pablo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Pablo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Nash lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Nash.

Nash throws a big counter combination but Pablo scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Ace Pablo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nash fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pablo, pushing him back against the cage.

Nash's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Nash misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pablo.

Nash gets control of Pablo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Nash will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Nash has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pablo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pablo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nash wants to sweep here but Pablo controlling him for the moment.

Nash had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pablo defends it easily.
Pablo throwing strikes but missing.

Pablo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pablo wanted to stand there but Nash had control of the position.
Nash is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Pablo wants to get up but he can't break Nash's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Nash working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pablo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Nash is tightening it up a little... Pablo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Pablo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Pablo taps out! Nice BJJ there by Nash!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Joshua Nash!
