PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rus Rus (ranked 5215 p4p, 4784 weight class) and Gon Freecs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Rus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Freecs will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Freecs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Freecs somewhat.
Freecs goes for a double leg but Rus avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rus continues to drive forward.

Freecs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rus's guard.

Gon Freecs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Freecs shoots in looking for a takedown. Rus tries to sprawl out of it but Freecs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Freecs has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Freecs.

Rus throws a big right hand that misses.
Freecs throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Freecs is pulling down on Rus's head. It's preventing any offense from Rus, at least for the moment.
Freecs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rus is fighting to break Freecs's control of his arms but Freecs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Rus sets himself, and Freecs steps forward looking for the clinch! Rus avoids it this time.
Horrible takedown attempt by Freecs or perhaps it was just good defense by Rus, which made it look bad.

Gon Freecs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Gon Freecs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Freecs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
