PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Jesse (ranked 4673 p4p, 24232 weight class) and Robinson David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David has chosen Space Cowboy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Robinson David has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Jesse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robinson David!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.

Jesse uses good head movement to avoid the hook from David.
Robinson David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
David looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
A nice leg kick from David, right into the meat of the thigh.

Jesse fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. David sprawls well initially but Jesse persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
David wants to control but Jesse is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jesse is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so David is just riding it out for now. Jesse eventually gives up the hold.

Jesse could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jesse tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Jesse tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jesse has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jesse has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jesse's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jesse moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, David has worked his arm free - good work by David!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Jesse.
David throws a front kick that sends Jesse stumbling back into the cage.

Jesse darts in looking for a takedown but David gets double underhooks and turns Jesse into the cage.
David misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Jesse has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed David clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

David is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jesse is persistently looking for the submission but David is defending it well.

Jesse is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. David defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Jesse has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of David's body.

Jesse keeps control of the position easily here as David tries to buck him off.
David avoids the strikes from Jesse.
You can see the frustration on David's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
David really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jesse. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jesse has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

David defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Jesse's arms.

Jesse is persistently looking for the submission but David is defending it well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

David wants to counter with a clinch but Jesse pushes him away.

David tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Jesse manages to move to mount!

Jesse sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Poor strikes thrown by Jesse there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

David is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jesse, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
