Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim O Neil (ranked 2541 p4p, 3225 weight class) and Conor Aldo (ranked 275 p4p, 321 weight class). Aldo has chosen The Foggy Dew as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim O Neil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Conor Aldo!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.

O Neil fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Aldo, pushing him back against the cage.
Aldo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
O Neil throws a punch but it's blocked by Aldo.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Aldo.
Aldo lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
O Neil leaning his opponent against the cage.
O Neil scores with a nice hook to the head.
Aldo misses with a short punch on the inside.
Aldo pushes O Neil back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Aldo lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down O Neil.
Nice body punch from Aldo.

Aldo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A combination from O Neil does no damage.
O Neil throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A solid body kick from Aldo.
O Neil is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
O Neil closes the distance but Aldo moves to the side
and Aldo counters with a slapping leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - O Neil looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aldo darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
We've been told by O Neil's head coaches at Dark Horse MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Aldo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Aldo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A head kick misses from Aldo.
O Neil takes one on the button.
Aldo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of O Neil's head.
O Neil on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
O Neil wants to clinch.
Aldo is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
O Neil throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Aldo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

O Neil is rocked!
Aldo looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Aldo backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks O Neil's temple! It sends O Neil violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Aldo celebrates and the doctors try to help O Neil!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Conor Aldo!
In his post fight interview, Conor Aldo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
