And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bogie McGill!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuosmanen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McGill.

McGill throws a series of punches but Kuosmanen moves out of range.

Kuosmanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McGill, who protects the arm well.
Kuosmanen lands a decent elbow from side control.
Kuosmanen advances nicely into full mount.

Kuosmanen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGill is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGill and Kuosmanen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

McGill is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kuosmanen connects with a decent elbow.

Kuosmanen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McGill is not content to let Kuosmanen control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuosmanen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Kuosmanen is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt McGill will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kuosmanen goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McGill has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kuosmanen but great work by McGill.

Kuosmanen has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, McGill escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by McGill!

Kuosmanen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McGill sprawls well. McGill wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kuosmanen gets slowly back to his feet.

and Kuosmanen counters with a nice body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kuosmanen wants to take McGill's back here but McGill is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
McGill is breathing heavily.

McGill has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Kuosmanen controlling the positon.

McGill trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Keijo Kuosmanen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kuosmanen trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure McGill doesn't escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGill is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kuosmanen gets his way!

Kuosmanen is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but McGill has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGill is trying to defend against the choke here but Kuosmanen has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Kuosmanen Tightens the hold and McGill taps out furiously! Kuosmanen displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
