Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wesley Pipes (ranked 1233 p4p, 3255 weight class) and Manuel Cristos (ranked 146 p4p, 325 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wesley Pipes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manuel Cristos!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.

Pipes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cristos.
Cristos closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Nice straight punches there by Cristos. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Cristos.
Pipes slips under a jab.
Nice takedown defense from Cristos. No joy for Pipes on that attempt.
Pipes shoots in looking for a takedown but Cristos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pipes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cristos throws a shot from downtown. Pipes moves away and avoids it.
Cristos misses with a hook.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Cristos swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pipes misses with a takedown attempt - Cristos sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wesley Pipes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pipes feints and as Cristos raises his hands in defense, Pipes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pipes drops back looking for a leg! Cristos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cristos manages to kick Pipes off! Pipes jumps back into Cristos's guard.

Cristos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Pipes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pipes passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pipes is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cristos still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cristos has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

It looks like Cristos is going to stand back up.
Pipes has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Pipes is pressing down on Cristos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cristos avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Pipes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cristos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cristos wants to stand but Pipes is controlling his posture from full guard.

Cristos stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cristos throws a good cross that connects.
Cristos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pipes sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pipes fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pipes goes for a double leg but Cristos avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cristos continues to drive forward.
Cristos looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Pipes steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cristos.
A swing and a miss from Cristos.
Cristos might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Pipes fails with the takedown.
Pipes throws a sloppy body shot
and Cristos counters with a nice uppercut.
Pipes has a takedown stuffed.
Sloppy strikes from Cristos. Those never looked like landing.

Cristos tries to sprawl but Pipes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pipes stops Cristos from getting back to his feet.
Cristos trying to control but Pipes postures up.

Pipes seems to be looking for submissions.

Pipes is looking for a kimura but Cristos is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pipes to get the leverage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pipes wants to free his trapped foot but Cristos is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pipes wants to work for an arm triangle but Cristos is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pipes trying to control the action but Cristos is working from the bottom.
Pipes is looking to advance position but Cristos won't allow it.
Cristos tries to roll over but Pipes keeps him under control.

Pipes is working for a submission of some sort.
Pipes is looking to take a break and control but Cristos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manuel Cristos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cristos darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Cristos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pipes doesn't seem bothered though.
Pipes slips under a jab from Cristos.
Cristos throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pipes on the side of the head.

Pipes is rocked!
Pipes moves away from the strike by Cristos.
Oh Pipes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cristos misses with a hook. Pipes ducked under it nicely.
Cristos drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Pipes right on the button. Pipes goes down! Cristos follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Cristos gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Manuel Cristos!
