PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Ordorff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Ordorff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gene White!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ordorff tries to land a sweep but no joy.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Ordorff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
White missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ordorff thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
White throwing strikes from guard but Ordorff blocks nicely.

White avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

White stands and steps away. Ordorff gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ordorff fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
White shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ordorff pinned against the cage. Ordorff gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Paul Ordorff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gene White.

White closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - White lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ordorff controls White momentarily but White frees himself.

Ordorff working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. White doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. White manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ordorff has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but White can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

White is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ordorff is surviving well by controlling White's body position as best he can.

BOOM! White connects with a massive shot to the dome!

White stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Oh Ordorff is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

White shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ordorff's guard.
White passes into half guard.
White has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ordorff is desperately trying to improve his position but White has a good base and remains in mount.

Ordorff shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts White as he jumps to the side.
Ordorff swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
White lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ordorff backs up against the cage.

and Ordorff counters with a shoot takedown. White fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

White has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ordorff can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ordorff decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on White, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Ordorff counters with a shoot takedown. White fights it but they end up in guard.

Ordorff slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ordorff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. White knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
White regains half guard.

Ordorff looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ordorff has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

White had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ordorff is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. White Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ordorff's back instead.

Ordorff has hold of White's hands but White slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

White is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ordorff defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gene White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ordorff looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I've got White winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
