The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pieru fails to land the takedown.
Pieru moves in looking to clinch but Porthaven pushes him off.
Porthaven throws a hook but Pieru blocks it.
Pieru pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Pieru counters with a shoot takedown. Porthaven fights it but they end up in guard.
Pieru wants to pass the guard but Porthaven is keeping the position.
Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Porthaven manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pieru manages to get himself to full guard.
