PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maksud Magomedov (ranked 3578 p4p, 1989 weight class) and Richard Rockefeller (ranked 386 p4p, 230 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Rockefeller lands a jab.
Magomedov tries for a takedown but Rockefeller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rockefeller fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Rockefeller displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Magomedov throws out the jab.

Magomedov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rockefeller on his heels. He'll look to pass Rockefeller 's guard now, I'm sure.
Rockefeller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Magomedov swings for the body but Rockefeller moves out of range.
Magomedov gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Rockefeller feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Magomedov sprawling to the canvas! Magomedov rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rockefeller finish him?!

It looks like Maksud Magomedov has been cut.

Rockefeller throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Magomedov sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rockefeller drops Magomedov with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Magomedov looks back up at him and smiles so Rockefeller waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Rockefeller cracks Magomedov with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Magomedov looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Rockefeller finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Magomedov throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rockefeller on the side of the head.
Magomedov shoots in for a double leg but Rockefeller sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Rockefeller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Magomedov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rockefeller won't be happy with that.

Rockefeller sneaks out the side door and pushes Magomedov away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rockefeller lands a nice hook to Magomedov's body. Magomedov takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rockefeller walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Magomedov drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Rockefeller swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Magomedov's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
