PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kolby Khaos (ranked 1740 p4p, 5470 weight class) and Shirley Crabtree (ranked 67 p4p, 141 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kolby Khaos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Shirley Crabtree!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.

Khaos takes a swing at Crabtree's ribcage but misses.
Khaos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Crabtree.

Crabtree swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Crabtree creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Khaos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Crabtree can't fight it off and eventually Khaos manages to take the fight to the floor. Crabtree looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Khaos is trying to control the action in half guard but Crabtree is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Khaos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Crabtree defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khaos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crabtree does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Khaos has hold of Crabtree's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Crabtree manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Khaos is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Crabtree has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Crabtree!
Crabtree wants to stand and escape but instead Khaos has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Khaos passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Crabtree really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Khaos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Crabtree loads up on a big right hand but Khaos slips the punch.
As Crabtree backs away, Khaos returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Khaos avoids a punch combination nicely.

Crabtree throws a lazy right hand but Khaos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Khaos closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khaos makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Crabtree pushes Khaos back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crabtree is trying to break the clinch but Khaos is controlling him.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Crabtree.
Khaos has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Khaos pulls guard successfully.

Crabtree gets to his feet. Khaos looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Crabtree looks to land a right hand but Khaos moved out of range.
Khaos wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Crabtree lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Khaos at a distance.

Khaos clinches up with Crabtree and pushes him back against the cage.
Crabtree is trying to force a seperation but Khaos has the dominant position.
Crabtree lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Khaos gets control of Crabtree's arms and successfully pulls guard. Khaos will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
My spies in Tycoon Gym inform me that Crabtree has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Khaos has his foot on Crabtree's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Crabtree works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

I was talking to Khaos's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Crabtree has had enough of the clinch but Khaos keeps him there for the moment.

Crabtree is sitting in close to Khaos's body. Khaos has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Crabtree is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Crabtree is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Khaos.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kolby Khaos!
