Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maris Lakis (ranked 5053 p4p, 3855 weight class) and Mariano Medrano (ranked 482 p4p, 407 weight class). Medrano has chosen If You Know, You Know as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Medrano wants to clinch up but Lakis keeps it at a distance.
Lakis attempts a counter takedown but Medrano avoids it well and moves away.
Lakis blocks a leg kick.
Lakis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Medrano.
Medrano throws a leg kick which misses Lakis's front leg but catches the back leg as Lakis tries to avoid it.

Medrano throws a head kick but Lakis moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and Lakis tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Medrano drives through and clinches with Lakis against the cage.

It looks like Maris Lakis has been cut.

Medrano tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lakis's elbow.

The referee is keeping an eye on Lakis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Medrano unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Lakis is breathing heavily.

Medrano tries to throw a body punch but Lakis avoids it by throwing Medrano back against the cage.
Medrano creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Medrano lands an elbow inside that Lakis shrugs off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Medrano has Lakis pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Lakis is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Medrano - that's hurt Lakis badly! Oh, another knee lands and Lakis is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Lakis doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Mariano Medrano!
A relieved looking Mariano Medrano thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
