Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Smith could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Marc Knight's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marc Knight!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Knight paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Knight will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Knight scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Smith blocks a jab.

Knight clinches with his opponent.
Smith using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Knight has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Smith lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Marc Knight has been cut.
Smith throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Knight blocks it with crossed arms.
Knight blocking some punches.
Smith content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Smith scores with a knee to the head.
Smith struggles to land a body shot inside as Knight controls his hands.
Smith stalls.
Knight with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Knight leaning against his opponent.

Knight has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position.
Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Knight is proving hard to escape from.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Knight had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smith is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Knight Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smith's back instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Knight has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Knight tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Knight has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Smith defending against the ground and pound.
Smith wants to control but Knight postures up.
Smith is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Smith tries to bench press Knight off him but Knight keeps the position.

Knight is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Smith is pushing Knight's head away, looking to escape. Knight manages to hold on to the position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Knight advances to mount.
Knight lands a heavy elbow.

Knight is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Smith has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Knight pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Smith is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Smith tries to clinch but Knight moves away
and Knight counters with a left and a right that stings Smith.
Knight rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knight punishes Smith's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith wants to clinch but Knight slips to the side

and Knight holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Knight jumps into guard, dragging Smith to the mat.

Knight is looking for a triangle here but Smith uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Smith wants to control but Knight is keeping him busy.
Knight manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Knight is doing well to control the position and prevent Smith from advancing to side control.
Knight is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Knight is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Smith moves nicely into side control.

Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Knight counters with a left to the body.
Knight jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Knight closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Knight passes into half guard.
Smith pushes Knight off looking to stand but Knight dives back in and keeps control.

Knight is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knight looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Smith trying to control but Knight postures up.

Knight wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Smith wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That has opened up Marc Knight's cut even more.

Knight has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Knight passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Knight thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Knight prevents Smith from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Smith will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Marc Knight's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

James Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marc Knight.

Smith sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Smith.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
